Recipes for Homemade Dog Treats

Here are a number of recipes for homemade dog treats that your pet will really love.

Homemade Dog Biscuits

Ingredients:

 2 cups of brown sugar
1 stick of butter or 3/8 cup of olive oil
2 eggs
2 cups of flour
2 tsp. of baking powder
1/2 tsp. of salt
1/2 cup of chopped meat scraps
 

Melt together the brown sugar and butter or oil. Let cool. Blend in eggs and stir in the rest of the ingredients.  Mix well. Put in long cake pan. Bake at 325 deg. for 25-30 min. Cut into squares while still warm.

Special Dog Rewards

Ingredients:

1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup applesauce
2-1/3 cups flour
1/2 cup grated cheese, preferably a dry, hard cheese
1 large egg
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup of nonfat powdered milk

Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. Roll the dough out to about the size of a cookie sheet. Pat the dough in one piece onto a lightly greased cookie sheet, bringing it to the edges. Score the dough to the size of the dog biscuit that you want.

Bake in an oven at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes or until golden brown. Turn off the oven, and let these homemade dog treats cool for a few hours to let them get hard. Remem-ber, they will keep hardening the longer you leave them in the oven. When they have hardened sufficiently, break them apart and store them in a tightly covered container.
